Is the Veterans Administration serving the needs of all veterans who served in our armed forces?

marnefirstinfantry asked:

There are accusations of corruption, fraud, ineptness, political influence peddling and a host of other charges being made by the community within Sufolk County, New York, at the Veterans Administration in Northport, New York. Do you believe the Veterans Administration Hospital-sites should be for the sole benefit of all veterans and be free of political fund raising and non-military activities held on the grounds of the Veterans Administration Hospitals-sites that are not specifically oriented toward the direct care and benefit of all veterans.?

I don’t think they should have to stop with the non-military fund raisers, but I do think they don’t take care of the veterans like they are supposed to. I know alot of vets that have been treated at veteran hospitals and they did not get the care they needed. My Grandfather and father are fust two of them.I think the veteran hospitals should have the fund raisers but then have someone that will actually put the money back ino the hospital like it should be.

It is true that there have been alot of problems with the VA as far as bad apples, but all in all it does try and help vets. It has it’s hands tied in most cases by politics and funding matters.

I do think that it should be a rather autonimus group that is free of politics. But in the end it is funded by the government and so there is a lot of red tape to deal with. There are alot of new bills and new people in the VA and hopefully they will make a diffrence.

Also there are changes on the horizon. More vets are coming of the age where they become politicians themselves. This could add to the idea of the VA being better funded and more independent.

They operated on me about 16 years ago. Totally inept, sewed me back together incorrectly. Because of the screw up I never healed correctly and am weak on the right side of my body to this day.

I’ll go to a witch doctor before I return to that bunch of chainsaw surgeons.
